The author was on the staff of the politics department at Rhodes University when I was a quaking undergraduate and I remember her well. She was one of the academics who wasn’t intimidating but warm and human. Consequently, I took on the task of reading and reviewing this book enthusiastically.

What a disappointment.
I was the second woman priest (after Nancy) to serve at St Bartholomew's church in Grahamstown, Nancy's parish, a couple of years after she retired.
Over the years, I heard from parishioners of how astute, vibrant, strong, warm and caring she was - and how she never flinched from challenging the status quo. Nancy has had a fascinating life story.
One would have hoped that this biography of the first woman priest in the country would have been hard to put down.

Ingrid, it still sounds well worth a read to me. The criticisms mentioned in the review seem to be very much a matter of taste. I suspect another reader might feel very differently.
