Verdict: carrot
Terry, the main character of Erica Emdon’s Jelly Dog Days, could have come straight out of Oliver Twist, says the reviewer:
If Erica Emdon were to bump into a modern-day Charles Dickens, chances are the two of them would discuss the child protagonists in his novels Oliver Twist, David Copperfield and Great Expectations.
They would probably dwell on how, even though the youngsters were subjected to such awful childhoods, their enormous resilience and bravery helped them to emerge into adulthood all the stronger.
